This month of The Drop, Dante Jordan’s column rounding up all the can’t-miss strains and dabs from the best brands and growers, looks at anticipated releases from Cannabiotix, Binske, Humo, and more.
Another month, another round of fresh, good weed. Here are six strains hitting dispensaries in March 2022.
CBX: Mount Zereal Kush
Cannabiotix (CBX) is giving the people a new in-house strain called Mount Zereal Kush. Mount Zereal Kush is a cross of Kush Mountains with a Zereal Milk phenotype. CBX did a couple rounds of phenohunts before locking on a Mount Zereal Kush keeper. Now, you can buy and smoke it.
Mount Zereal Kush has a sweet and creamy nose with a tart, sour candy flavor. You can expect the high to hit you with a soothing, happy, and relaxed type of feel. This strain is rolling out towards late February, and will be available in various dispensaries come March.
Peep the CBX Instagram for updates and when and where to get MZK.

Humo: El Patron
El Patron was bred by Refined Genetics. It’s a cross of Wedding Cake and Chemdog, two legendary heaters. Humo has been working with the strain for about 6 months, and now you can cop the very first run of it.
El Patron has that old school sativa look, smell, and feel. The smell and taste hits you with a mix of earthy, gassy, and peppery flavors, and its main terpenes are caryophyllene, limonene, and myrcene.
Whether you smoke or vaporize the flower, El Patron will have people feeling an uplifting mix of energizing and motivating effects, so it’s perfect for daytime consumption.

Freddy’s Fuego: Specimen X
That Freddy’s Fuego weed is so damn good — each year, they do a phenohunt and then let the Freddy’s fans vote on the keepers. This year, one strain that has Freddy’s mad excited is Specimen X. It comes out as part of the brand’s The Hunt box.
Specimen X comes from a TikiMadman and Clearwater Genetics breeding collab. It crosses Project 4516 (a Gelato x Gelato hybrid) with Devil Driver. As you can imagine, the Specimen X terps come through heavy on the Gelato influence.
According to Freddy’s, Specimen X smells like a nutty-flavored Ice Cream Cake with added cherry and gas undertones. Freddy’s says it reminds them of chocolate-covered cherries. The high is potent, and provides relaxing effects that make locking into creative tasks fun and easy.

Binske: Walk On Water, Melon
Dude, the Watermelon terps on this Walk On Water, Melon are so damn crazy. Binske has some real deal Holyfield on deck with this one.
Binske’s Walk On Water, Melon was bred by Natura Life + Science. It is a cross of Watermelon Zkittlez and Jesus OG, hence the name. It has a fruity, watermelon-like smell to it that definitely translates to the smoke.
You can expect the Walk On Water, Melon effects to be heady and relaxing. It also might put you to sleep in heavy doses, cause boy, I was outta there every time I rolled a joint — that’s why Binske suggests saving this one for end-of-the-day consumption.
Binske sold out immediately of its first round of Walk On Water, Melon, but the re-up will be available throughout California in March and the following months.

Country Cannabis: Northern Funk
Country Cannabis is a new brand out in California. Its whole jam is about “light” cannabis. Essentially, light cannabis has higher CBD, so the effects won’t hit people as hard. Additionally, Country Cannabis has high-THC products for the traditional cannabis smoker. On the high-THC side, the Northern Funk is a pretty good smoke.
Northern Funk was bred Bodhi Seeds, and selected by Ladybug Farms. It’s a cross of Northern Lights and GMO and has a fruity, funky, and piney smell to it, while the taste has a nutty, somewhat sweet undertone. This is all thanks to myrcene, caryophyllene, and pinene in its terpene profile.
The Northern Funk high is calming and relaxing. It’s great for providing mellow effects that make you feel less anxious and more social. That kickback type of high, ya know?
Available: California
Mohave Reserve: Hi Octane Gelato and Biscotti Mints
Mohave puts out some really good weed. The flower is always super sticky, mad flavorful, and the high sticks with you for hours. In March, they have a couple different stains hitting the streets in different states. In Arizona, you can catch some fresh jars of Hi Octane Gelato. If you’re in California, you can get some Biscotti Mints.
Hi Octane Gelato is a cross of Gelato and High Octane OG. It has a fruit-forward flavor profile, and its predominant terpenes are limonene, myrcene, and caryophyllene. The high is soothing and relaxing.
Biscotti Mints is a cross of Biscotti and Kush Mints #11. It has a creamy and minty flavor, and provides a soothing, creative type of experience. You can’t go wrong with either of these strains.
Available: Arizona and California
